From Our Pastors

As most students have either just started back to school, or are starting today or this week, here are 10 prayers I am praying for your students as this new school year begins. Use them to pray for your students as well if they are helpful for you! 

 

1. That students work with excellence in their classrooms, as we do all things for the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31 & Colossians 3: 23-24) 

 

2. That students would grow and learn about the many amazing things God created and placed into His world (Psalm 24:1) 

 

3. That schools would be safe places for all students to learn and teachers to teach well

 

4. That students would make friends and build relationships with existing friends, and choose friends wisely (Proverbs 27:17 & 1 Corinthians 15:33) 

 

5. That students who are Christ followers would see themselves as salt and light on their school campuses, seeking to make the name of Jesus famous through their words and actions (Matthew 5: 13-16)

 

6. That students would honor and respect those in authority, both teachers and administrators (Titus 3: 1-2) 

 

7. That students would enjoy school and not waste any opportunity they are given (Romans 15:13) 

 

8. That students would be free from anxiety in schoolwork and relationships (Philippians 4: 6-7) 

 

9. That students would not look to school and accomplishments for ultimate joy, nor be in despair if they don’t come as they might hope (Colossians 3:15 & Psalm 16:11) 

 

10. That students would expect great things from God and attempt great things for God this year (quote from missionary William Carey)
